What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

1. SEA meets with Congresswoman Betty McCollum!
Committed to advocating for the field of social enterprise SEA along with board members Kevin Lynch and Tom Triplett hosted a gathering of leading social enterprises in the Twin Cities with Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04). The meeting, held at Rebuild Resources, was organized at the request of Congresswoman McCollum’s staff with the aim to receive input and feedback on her proposed legislation H.R. 5533 –Nonprofit Sector and Community Solutions Act.

To ensure that the voice of the social enterprise sector is heard and counted in this new legislation, an additional meeting with the Congresswoman is being planned in Washington DC to seek input from SEA members around the entire country.

2. REDF is looking for Social Innovation Fund subgrantees!
In mid-September 2010, REDF will make a web-based Request for Qualifications (RFQ) open to the public. The RFQ application is the first step in an open competitive process for selecting Social Innovation Fund subgrantees for REDF's portfolio. In order to qualify, applicants must be nonprofit community organizations that currently employ (or are seeking to employ) REDF's target populations as described on their website. For more info click here.

Want to share a story about a sustainable international social enterprise improving income benefits of many low-income people? Want to tell others about the amazing growth of a social enterprise? The SEEP Network, Beyond Profit and other partners want your stories about growth, scale and transition to highlight both organizational successes and challenges. The deadline to submit a case profile is September 10th 2010. Email socentstory@intellecap.com to
submit.

4. UK/Africa Social Enterprise Alive and Kicking publishes Social Enterprise Map
If there were a picture of the field of social enterprise what would it look like? What are the support systems in place and how do they relate to one another? In a search for an answer to these questions, Alive & Kicking - an African and UK based social enterprise - has developed the Social Enterprise Map. They've started the map by highlighting International, European, UK and African organizations that are assisting social enterprises. Alive and Kicking, which has been rated in BusinessWeek as one of the top 3 products that might change the world, plans to expand the Map to include the US and all other regions of the world.
