From exquisite Italian grown sun drenched lemons to dusty Devon potatoes and colourful Lancashire Rainbow carrots. Beansprouts, chickpea sprouts, and even brussel sprouts will soon be on your menu! Take a glance on your way in at the neatly packaged fresh herbs, among which sage, rosemary and thyme number just a few, and then on your way out - be sure to get your five-a-day portions from amongst the Swiss chard, Savoy cabbage, and Lancashire leeks. Make a hot-pot with Devon parsnips, large white onions, garlic and Remarka potatoes, and have a go at a mushroom risotto with the beautifully presented mushrooms on display. For those who are keen on beetroot there is the most amazing Lancashire beetroot ever to be seen, limes, fresh oregano and dill for the cordon bleu cooks, oranges for the thirsty, and apples for those who can't wait to bite into something crisp and healthy! Happy eating and even more happy cooking! February Special Offers ! During February the Heritage range of pasta will continue to be available. The already successful promotional campaign will be running on with truly unbeatable prices. All the different varieties of pasta in the store that are available will be included such as: lasagne, quillis, twists, shells, macaroni and spaghetti. All priced 79p each, which with 20% memberrship discount translates into a meagre 64p for members (not forgetting that the normal RRP for these products is £1.09 !). They are two for £1.35. So for members on a 20% that's £1.04 for two (or in plain English just 52 pence each!). If you feel that the pasta may now be coming out of your ears, - then read on... Buy it then bake it - enough for 6! In case you don't know what to do with all the accumulated pasta you will by now be stockpiling in readiness for WWIII, - then try using up some of it in a simple pasta bake that can satisfy your hungry mouth and the appetite of a few friend . Cook up a 500gm bag of pasta (I used the shells) and let them become fairly large and not too crunchy, drain off the water but keep them hot in a colander over the drained water ready for the next stage: Then cook up some mediterranean vegetable mix in a frying pan (try sauteeing red onions, shallots, red or green bell pepper, -and PLENTY of garlic finely chopped-at least 3 or 4 cloves would do, plus I also put in some fine sliced green beans). I also added some chunks of ham that I had lying around, but anything else would also do, e.g. cooked bacon or mushroom, or some kind of vegetarian alternative (make sure it's cooked first). Put all the ingredients well mixed together into a large casserole dish. Sprinkle a very generous helping of grated cheese: -mature cheddar will do nicely on the top- and put in the oven (10-20 mins max)! At least you can be happy that the pasta will now go straight into your stomach, rather than sitting on the shelf !!! Happy eating ! We also will have the new Suma wholewheat pasta coming in soon, and also De Cecco will be in to replace Napolina. If you haven't had a chance to visit us this month, we still want to entice you with a few offers. Remember active members always qualify for 20% discount ! There’s more offers around the shop, just look out for the distinctive yellow strips on the shelves. Look forward to seeing you!
