stethoscope There are a lot of great stories being shared about social enterprises all across the country. But for 2013, my challenge to myself is to find models that are both replicable and scalable.

Kilimanjaro What sparked the vision for a story and online fundraising site specifically for charity climbs, treks, hikes and charity adventures, was my first charity climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2010 with my husband Mike. We realized the vast number of people wanting to adventure for charity, but more than often lacking the tools, resources, and know-how to get started easily.

 
We are living in a networked society that is supported by hundreds of thousands of information and communications technologies (ICTs) that bring us tremendous value. Now we need to look past our virtual avatars and our online profiles in order to understand what impact this connectedness can have on others and our cities. That's where urban informatics comes in.
