Call for Entrants: Executive summaries are due on January 20, 2010 for all entrants in the US, Europe (non-French speaking), Africa and South America via the GSVC website. Entrant teams from Asia should apply to the Asia Regional Round at the Indian School of Business or the SE Asia Round at Thammasat Business School in Thailand. If you wish to submit a plan in French, you may do so via the ESSEC Business School Regional Round in France. Please also visit the competition section at GSVC.org for more details on how to enter.
Entrant Requirements:
- Every team must include at least one member who is a current student in ANY graduate business program or who has graduated from any graduate business program within the past 24 months.
- Operating companies are welcome to enter, though they must be less than 3 years old (as measured by first revenue or first patent issued).
- Plan can be for a for-profit or non-profit as long as either can be financially self-sustaining at scale.

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
Mentoring: Mentoring is a key part of GSVC’s success. We are looking for mentors to facilitate working relationships between entrants and industry professionals, and to assist teams with writing the business plan, calculating social return on investment, and presenting ideas to potential investors. Learn more.

Judging: The expertise of our GSVC judges is a large part of what makes this competition a thought-leader in the social enterprise space. Every year professionals give of their time to review the business plans, provide feedback and where appropriate, attend live judging and presentation sessions. Learn more.

Symposium: The GSVC Symposium on Social Entrepreneurship brings together over 300 leaders and innovators in social entrepreneurship, business, and academia for a two-day conference in conjunction with the final judging round for GSVC winners. The Global Social Venture Competition is the largest and oldest student-led business plan competition providing mentoring, exposure, and $45,000 in prizes for social ventures from around the world. The Tech Museum Honors World of Good Development Organization for Applying Technology to Benefit Humanity
World of Good Development Organization, a nonprofit focused on improving the lives of low-income women in the developing world, today announced that it has been honored by The Tech Museum of Innovation with The Katherine M. Swanson Equality Award and with a $50,000 cash prize from the Swanson Family Foundation for its Fair Wage Guide, a free, open-source platform that calculates fair wages for artisans around the world and specific to their locations.
Healthy, organic and cheap school lunches? Order up
For the first time, a small, privately held start-up is pushing to do just that: producing what are by all accounts fresh, healthful, all-natural school meals for just under $3 apiece. Starting with just one school in spring 2006, Revolution Foods has quietly grown year by year and now delivers about 45,000 breakfasts, lunches and snacks daily to 235 public and private schools in California, Colorado and the District of Columbia.
MicroEnergy Credits launches partnership with HSBC India and Spandana
MEC launched a partnership with HSBC in India and Spandana, a leading microfinance institution, to bring the benefits of the carbon markets to microentrepreneurs so they can adopt a clean energy path as they improve their quality of life. Several hundred microfinance clients attended the event on December 7th in Nagpur, as well as April Allderdice, CEO of MEC, Pamaja Reddy the CEO of Spandana and Naina Lal Kadwai, Country Head, HSBC India.
