The GIIN welcomes Sarona Asset Management to the Investors' Council. Sarona Asset Management Inc, founded in 1953 as an impact investment firm, creates and manages private investment vehicles for impact investment in developing countries, with over $200 million in assets currently in its Sarona and MicroVest funds. The past few weeks have been filled with discussion about the growing impact investing industry.The GIIN co-hosted a cross-sector Global Forum on Impact Investing with Dutch development organization SNV, The Royal Netherlands Embassy, The Rockefeller Foundation, the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs, and the Small Enterprise Assistance Fund. Rockefeller Foundation Managing Director and GIIN Board Chairman Antony Bugg-Levine shared the stage with Ambassador Elizabeth Bagley, the US State Department Special Representative for Global Partnerships.At the Harvard Social Enterprise Conference, GIIN Director of Strategy and Development Amit Bouri moderated a panel with four impact investors who discussed as practitioners the realities of investing to achieve both social or environmental impact and financial returns.With the Rockefeller Foundation, the GIIN co-hosted a panel discussion and reception to mark the release of two new important reports about impact investing: Solutions for Impact Investors: From Strategy to Implementation by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and Investing for Impact: Case Studies Across Asset Classes by Bridges Ventures and The Parthenon Group. Both reports are available for download from the research resource page of the GIIN website.Last week, GIIN Director of Programs and Operations Camilla Seth moderated a panel about using impact investments to finance small and medium enterprises at the Social Venture Capital/Social Enterprise Conference in Miami.
