NYC Professionals Raise $4,900 for Grameen Foundation Jennifer Noh, Katie Cheng, and Kelli Moles organized a networking event that drew 100 attendees and raised $4,900 for Grameen Foundation. Kelli volunteered with us through our Bankers without Borders® initiative. “We have seen firsthand the work that Grameen Foundation does on the ground, and it’s truly inspiring," says Moles, Project Ghana’s founder. "Hosting an event is easy and fun! We recommend keeping event costs low and fixed so that every dollar raised can benefit the poor.” Noh, Cheng and Moles are officers of Project Ghana which encourages young professionals to donate their time and energy to poverty-focused charities worldwide. Help Project Ghana continue to support Grameen Foundation’s work. Watch Us Get out the Vote for $200,000 on YouTube With your help, Grameen Foundation can win $200,000 through Members Project® from American Express and Take Part. “We have a real opportunity to transform how technology is used in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, but we lack the funds to do so,” says Brian Slocum, coordinator for the region. “[Access to technology] would enable an MFI to provide more loans to more poor people faster.” Listen to how Brian and other Grameen Foundation staff members could expand their poverty-fighting programs with $200,000 in our new video series. The organization with the most votes wins, so please vote today and every week until August 22nd. Your Legacy Could Change Lives A gift of retirement plan assets may be one of the most tax-efficient ways to support Grameen Foundation’s work in the future. When you pass on retirement plan assets to an individual, she has to pay taxes on this money. However, when you pass on retirement plan assets to us, we receive the funds (up to $100,000) income-tax free. We could then use your support to offer opportunities to poor people, especially women, who are working hard to provide a better life for their families. Before making any estate planning decisions, talk to your advisor about how to achieve your goals while minimizing taxes, making sure your family has what it needs, and maximizing charitable contributions.
