NYC Professionals Raise $4,900 for Grameen Foundation  Jennifer Noh, Katie Cheng, and Kelli Moles organized a networking event that drew 100 attendees and raised $4,900 for Grameen Foundation. Kelli volunteered with us through our Bankers without Borders® initiative. “We have seen firsthand the work that Grameen Foundation does on the ground, and it’s truly inspiring," says Moles, Project Ghana’s founder.
"Hosting an event is easy and fun! We recommend keeping event costs low and fixed so that every dollar raised can benefit the poor.” Noh, Cheng and Moles are officers of Project Ghana which encourages young professionals to donate their time and energy to poverty-focused charities worldwide. Arab Microfinance Leaders/Grameen-Jameel Share Lessons Learned at Sanabel Conference  Grameen-Jameel was a platinum sponsor of the seventh annual Sanabel Microfinance Conference in Syria, themed “Responsible Growth: Learning from Global Trends and Regional Experiences.” At the June conference, which brought together leaders from Grameen-Jameel and other microfinance organizations throughout the Arab World, Grameen-Jameel hosted a number of sessions and trainings including “Measuring Social Performance and Impact in the Arab Region,” in which Grameen-Jameel shared its experience with Grameen Foundation and three MFI partners in deploying the PPI™ in Egypt.
Grameen-Jameel also presented three MFI Awards for Innovation (Al Amal Bank, Yemen), Leadership (Alexandria Businessman Association, Egypt) and Sustainable Growth (Al Tadamun, Cairo), awarding each winner $10,000. Following the conference, Grameen-Jameel led two trainings in microfinance corporate governance and financial analysis for its partners and other Arab MFIs. |
