Greetings!
VPP is pleased to announce that today we have launched our open competition for our youthCONNECT initiative. We are reaching out to organizations across the National Capital Region and asking for proposals to join youthCONNECT, funded in part by the federal Social Innovation Fund. We will be selecting up to four more investment partners to complement our four pre-selected subgrantees and together, they will focus on a collaborative effort to improve educational and employment opportunities for low-income youth, ages 14-24, in our region.
You can read more about the process on our website. Please send this message on to anyone you think might be interested in applying, or to anyone who would want to learn more about youthCONNECT and the exciting vision we have for this investment.
Sincerely,
Carol
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: VENTURE PHILANTHROPY PARTNERS’ youthCONNECT INITIATIVE
ABOUT youthCONNECT:
youthCONNECT is the new initiative of Venture Philanthropy Partners (VPP) that will build a transformative network of nonprofits working to directly increase the education and employment outcomes of low-income youth, ages 14-24. The Federal Government’s Social Innovation Fund (SIF) has awarded VPP $4 million for the first two years of youthCONNECT. VPP will match that with $4 million, which, when combined with the required matching funds from nonprofit subgrantees, will total a $12.8 million investment in the young people of the National Capital Region (NCR).
At scale, youthCONNECT will serve the education and employment needs of an estimated 20,000 young people over the next five years, helping them successfully transition to productive, self-sufficient adulthood that includes completion of college, meaningful employment, civic participation, and productive, healthy and safe lives for themselves and their children. Four nonprofit subgrantees—College Summit -NCR, KIPP DC, the Latin American Youth Center, and Year Up - NCR—were preselected for youthCONNECT.
A maximum of four additional subgrantee organizations will be selected to join youthCONNECT through a three-stage open competition selection process. The release of the Request for Preliminary Proposals (RFPP) initiates the first stage of the process.
REQUEST FOR PRELIMINARY PROPOSAL:
The RFPP will be released on September 20, 2010 and will provide more details about the selection criteria and process, including minimum eligibility requirements and how to apply.
