d.light Celebrates 2 Million Lives Impacted

We're thrilled to share that d.light has officially impacted two million lives around the world, bringing safe, clean and bright solar lighting to hundreds of thousands of families! We are now distributing in over 40 countries, and expect sales to grow exponentially in the coming months.

As a result, our customers will cumulatively save about USD60 million over the lifetime of the products because they are no longer dependent on kerosene for light. They will also experience increased productivity that puts an additional USD65 million into their pockets, which can be used towards important household expenditures for health, education and transport. And d.light products will also reduce global carbon emissions by at least 82,600 tons!

We're grateful for all the support that has gotten us to this big milestone. You can find more exciting statistics about the impact we're having on CEO Sam Goldman's blog or in this video.

Case Study: Bringing Light to Families on Mafia Island, Tanzania

A small island off the coast of Tanzania, Mafia Island is home to 50,000 people, most of whom do not have any access to electricity. As part of our ongoing "Right to Safe Light" Campaign in Tanzania, which aims to provide safe and bright solar lighting to every student in the country, d.light staff worked closely with NGO Solar Aid, the local government and local schools to introduce our products to the families of Mafia Island.

In less than one week, we sold more than 3,000 lights, which means that over 30% of households on Mafia Island now have access to solar lighting. Students can now study more each night, their families are saving at least USD4 each month on kerosene costs, and everyone is safer and healthier.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the "Right to Safe Light" Campaign!
