Kingdom News from Around the World In this issue of Global News, we continue to bring you stories of what God is doing through his people all over the world, as they serve people and communities by doing kingdom business in a variety of ways. Kingdom Innovation Steve Saint, son of Nate Saint, has followed in his father's footsteps and works with the Waodani tribe at the edge of the Amazon Jungle in Ecuador. He was asked to help them solve a transportation riddle which plagues hard-to-reach regions all over the world: what do you do when the road ends? His solution? Build a flying car. It's called the Maverick, developed by i-tec, the Indigenous People's Technology and Education Center. I-TEC assists the "hidden" church in its journey toward independence under the lordship of Jesus Christ. The Maverick is now FAA-certified and will hit the market soon! Read more from CNN <<top of page>> Loans Spark Three Businesses Given the opportunity to pursue his business dreams, William Nzomo has done so with great vigor. He has used a series of loans from World Vision Micro to establish three businesses in Kenya; he started with goats, then bough grain to sell, and finally, acquired a grain mill used by many in his community. He plans to purchase a truck to transport grain to distant markets. His family of five has expanded to include an orphan, and lives comfortably off income from the three businesses. William tells a microfinance loan officer,"I am happy because, with you around, poverty will soon be a distant memory." Read more from World Vision <<top of page>> Kingdom Ethics The vision for starting a business grew out of a desire to bring dignity and hope to landmine survivors in Asia. Sharon's aim was to make a difference through creating employment. In 2004, she started a factory with six landmine-disabled people making products from locally dried fruit. Despite red tape and officials asking for bribes, her commitment to do things honestly was strong, and God’s hand moved as the factory was established. Today, the business is growing in strength and impact and in many ways is bringing transformation. Read more from YWAM <<top of page>> MetaSlav--A Solid Finish In 2003, Christian Slavov received a loan from Integra to expand his small metal construction business, and mentors helped him think strategically about the business and how to apply his faith in the workplace. He invests time teaching his employees how to work, and manages them with integrity, believing that if they feel they are valued, they will value their work—and do their best. This godly approach has reaped significant benefits. For example, though the materials MetaSlav uses in production are very expensive, for the last two years there have been no problems with employee theft.
