Dear Houghton, Acumen Fund is proud to announce the selection of the next two cohorts of leaders who will join our network of Acumen Fund Fellows. Over the last few months we have been conducting an intensive selection process that saw over 1,000 applications, and we have selected 40 extraordinary individuals who will make up the second class of the East Africa Fellows Program and the first class of the Pakistan Fellows Program.Over the course of the next year, these Fellows will participate in a series of trainings and collaborative projects designed to develop their financial, operational, and moral imagination skills. They come from all walks of life: from the villages of Northern Uganda and rural Balochistan, to cities like Lahore and Juba. Their work spans a broad range of projects: from a social enterprise using biogas technology to create renewable energy in Tanzania, to an NGO using art and photography for social justice in Punjab. But what binds these diverse Fellows together, is that each of them is driving an innovative social change initiative that is creating impact in their own communities. We hope that through these programs, we can develop new leaders who will challenge the status quo, work together across lines of difference, and inspire their communities to believe a brighter future is possible. Please join me in welcoming our two newest cohorts of Fellows – the 20 East Africa Fellows, and 19 Pakistan Fellows: East Africa Fellows
