Community Adjustment Fund benefits enp Funded Groups We'd like to extend our congratulations to two social enterprise initiatives funded in their early stage by enp that have now received support from the Community Adjustment Fund. (Click here for more information about this fund.) - $724,865 for the Cariboo Central Interior Poultry Producers Association, to develop Phase Two of its mobile poultry processor unit project, and to purchase a wood chipping unit to service producers and farmers in the region who lack vital poultry bedding material. This group received a grant from enp to develop their business plan.
- $324,454 for the Smithers Community Services Association, to create 50-75 jobs by expanding non-profit manufacturing operations and job skills training opportunities at the Moricetown Supported Work and Manufacturing Centre. This group received a grant from enp in 2008 for planning work related to this project.

Read the announcement and start typing...Third Canadian Conference on Social EnterpriseSocial Enterprise Angels As a member of the Social Enterprise Council of Canada, enp has been part of the planning for the national conference to be held in Toronto on November 18-20. A take off of CBC’s Dragon’s Den called Social Enterprise Angels will be featured as part of the conference. Organizers are still looking for angels to invest money in social enterprises that will be applying as participants. Aspiring social entrepreneurs will pitch their business idea in hopes of obtaining financing. For more information on the conference go to www.secouncil.ca. Early Bird Registration Register before September 23, 2009 to get early bird pricing.Social Economy Museum ExhibitThe Centre for the Study of Coops at the University of Saskatchewan has produced a museum exhibit on the social economy. Inner City Renovation, a social enterprise in Winnipeg, was selected from over 50 projects reviewed as part of a research project on Financing the Social Economy. The exhibit will travel Manitoba and Northern Ontario after the initial run at the University of Saskatchewan.
