Third Sector Excellence Awards 2009

The past year has been a story of uncertainty and trepidation in all parts of the economy, including the voluntary sector. The income of many charities has been under pressure at a time when demand for their services has been growing. Advice services on debt and unemployment are just two examples.

But there are encouraging signs that the sector is up to the challenge. It has a talent for coping in adversity, operating with limited resources and coming up with innovative ideas. And it is getting help from the Government in the form of the £42.5m third sector action plan.

So this might well be a better year than most for inspiring and outstanding work by charities and voluntary organisations. The Third Sector Excellence Awards, with 25 categories ranging from Brand Development to Small Charity, Big Achiever, are designed to reward such work. The awards night is a high point of the year.

So please look back over the past twelve months, put in entries for the best things you’ve done, and we will put them in front of our expert judges.

And we look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony on Thursday 24 September at Grosvenor House in central London.
