Book here.   back to top TBG DEVELOPMENTS Transformational Business Groups are small groups in a local area or with a particular interest focus. What they do and how they operate depends on the interests and activities of group members but typically includes mutual support, practical project involvement and a fair bit of eating. New Cambridge TBG TBN are working with Dr Peter Heslam to set up a new local group in Cambridge. Peter is a TBN member and Director of Transforming Business (TB). If you were at the conference you will have received his excellent book Transforming Capitalism: Entrepreneurship and the Renewal of Thrift. TB is an innovative research and development project in the University of Cambridge, with a focus on enterprise solutions to poverty and an interest in practical solutions – "what works?" We aim to set up a joint TBN / TB local group. As well as normal TBN activities of mutual support and practical involvement, this group will also include opportunities to get involved in TB work. New TBN Interest Group: Global Microenterprise Model Development If you see the potential of the internet to transfer appropriate 'know how' to partners overseas, you might like to join a new TBN interest group. The group would collate and share details of known successful microbusinesses as potential models for others to replicate and would work together in supporting suitable new potential model microenterprises (Requiring £250 - £3,000 start up loan or grant). It will be delivered over two Friday evening / Saturday sessions, 18/19 June and 2/3 July. This will be a great way to get actively involved with TBN at low cost, with a very friendly local group, and get to know a course that has been highly effective in developing countries. Initially this is likely to be 2 days a week. Tasks will include membership support, event organisation and developing our social networking presence. Applications are now open for the 2011 programme. The deadline is 23 July 2010. A Fellow works on-site with a social organisation from February to December 2011 and receives regular mentoring from the LGT Venture Philanthropy team. In addition, a 4-day induction workshop in January 2011 brings all Fellows together in Switzerland. See fact sheet and case study here .
