Apathy is Boring

Recently I gave a talk to a bunch of college students. The talk theme was a bit vague, and the title was simply "Apathy is Boring," so I took an opportunity to speak to these students about the reality and challenges of starting an organization - my favorite topic. New Social Enterprise Toolkit Enterprising Non-Profits (enp) has published a new toolkit that comprises the following eight modules: 1) Governance, 2) Leadership, 3) Blended Value Design, 4) Product & Markets, 5) Business Operations, 6) Customer Relations, 7) Marketing, and 8) Risk Analysis. Each module has its own slideshow presentation (which includes a worksheet at the end) as well as key documents and links to other resources. 16th Annual Social Venture Institute (SVI) Hollyhock Participants present their business problems to a panel of experienced business leaders and fellow participants. In return, they receive advice, tools, and resources to strengthen and grow their enterprise in a socially conscious way. SVI Hollyhock is presented by Renewal and Social Venture Network (SVN). September 14-18, 2011, Cortes Island, BC.
