Defining social enterprise. Still with me?
Boring they may be, but definition debates just rumble on and on (including at the otherwise excellent ClearlySo conference – coverage below).
The debate came back into focus last week when Social Enterprise UK left the joint venture that ran the Social Enterprise Mark Company, leaving Rise as sole shareholder. The Mark Company has faced critics concerned at its stringent view of what it means to be a social enterprise. Did this split occur because of ideological reasons or something else?
Social Enterprise UK have since launched a consumer-focused awareness campaign, 'Society Profits'. More on that below, as well as tips on recruiting graduates, news of the public's appetite for impact investing and the return of the Future 100 competition.
Finally, the UK's leading social investment conference Good Deals is just around the corner. If you haven't already, it is really time to reserve your place, as tickets are flying.
We're delighted to be supporting the Triodos photography competition Social Vision. There are less than four weeks to get your entries in to win £1,000, tickets to Voice 2012 and free advertising on SocialEnterpriselive.com. Find out more.
