What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

ClearlySo Newsletter
Keeping you informed about our events in the social business and enterprise sector

 Dear Houghton

Happy Friday! In this week's ClearlySo newsletter we ask the important questions:

Meanwhile, we interview the former Apprentice finalist, Claire Young, and keep you up to date with the usual diet of jobs, events and the latest news.

P.S. Please forward this to anyone you think would be interested, and help us raise the profile of our member businesses.

The Government and Social Enterprise
Chris White
Chris White MP
The Government has certainly talked the talk on social enterprise. Will it be able to offer anything more concrete? We've been taking a close look at some of the issues raised.

As amendments to Chris White's 'Social Value' Bill remove mention of social enterprise, Rodney Schwartz asks if we should be worried.

News that the Government may cut Feed in Tariffs has caused a landmark social investment deal to stall. Tom Cropper examines some of the implications and whether, when it comes to social enterprise, we can take the Government at its word?

Social enterprise and the feral youth
The face of youth?
According to Barnardos, half of us believe our children have turned feral. It's not an image Rodney Schwartz recognises. He's dedicated his debate on Social Edge this month to the question of the plight facing young people.

Meanwhile, our interns at ClearlySo have been investigating ways in which we can better engage with young people. Katrina Cruz has produced this excellent blog reporting on their work so far.

ClearlySo Gem: Claire Young

Continuing the youth theme, our interview this week features former Apprentice finalist Claire Young. This month she launches a brand new project to kickstart entrepreneurism with young people. She's been telling us all about that and how she made the transition from the shark tank of Alan Sugar's boardroom to the wonderful world of social enterprise. Head to our blog for more.

Social Enterprise Vox Pops

voxpopsWant to know what Darth Vader thinks about social enterprise? Then check out this video. As part of their project on youth outreach our interns headed out into the city, armed with a microphone, a camera and a lot of questions. Their mission: to see if the youth of Britain had caught the social enterprise bug. A great little video made all the more entertaining by an impromptu appearance from everyone's favourite Sith.

BBC World Challenge
It's your last chance to vote in this year's BBC World Challenge. Run by BBC World News and NewsWeek, this is a competition to recognise enterprising businesses at grassroots level. We're down to the 12 finalists. Voting closes next week on 11th November, so there is not one moment to lose. Head to their site and start voting.

Upcoming events
17th November: ClearlySo Investor Readiness Programme
A brand new event that offers a select group of social entrepreneurs access to the best expertise available on attracting investment into your enterprise.

17th November: ClearlySo Teatime
Celebrate Social Enterprise day by heading to our offices for some tea, coffee and advice on running your business.
