Business Support Events UpdateSocial Enterprise UK have got some great, practical business support events coming up over the next couple of weeks, so we’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about them and ensure no one misses out. Alongside our busy autumn events schedule of policy forums and workshops, these business support events focussing on social franchising, business planning and development, investment, and leadership are all designed to increase knowledge, develop skills, create opportunities and grow your social enterprise. This event will be opened by Caroline Mason - Chief Operating Officer of Big Society Capital, and will present a panel of social investment experts for Q&A, including: Ed Siegel - Director of Investments, Big Issue Invest Tracy Axten - Relationship Development Manager, Triodos Bank Steve Welsh - H2ope CIC Cost: Members of Social Enterprise UK will be offered a discounted delegate rate of £25 (+VAT). Non-members will be charged £75 (+VAT). An Enterprising FutureSocial Enterprise UK and Community Matters are hosting a social enterprise business support event for children and young people’s organisations, which will also take place next week on Thursday 10 November in London. The event will bring together social enterprise start-ups and VCO organisations looking to move to a social enterprise model within children and young people's services. As well as hearing from inspirational speakers and learning about issues facing the sector, the event will provide you with a forum in which you can learn new skills, develop your business acumen, and better understand the social enterprise model. The event will take you on a journey through setting up a social enterprise, starting with a plenary session and introduction to the business model, and then breaking off into workshops, one-to-one surgeries, and networking sessions. Cost: This event is free for members of Social Enterprise UK, Community Matters, Children England, NCVYS, NAVCA or the Race Equality Foundation, AND free to any voluntary, community and social enterprise sector attendees with a turnover of less than £20,000 per year. £75 for non-members. Social FranchisingTo provide practical help to social enterprises wishing to explore their franchise potential, Social Enterprise UK has teamed up with School for Social Entrepreneurs and CAN to devise a new social franchising programme for organisations looking to replicate their work. Participants will be introduced to a wide range of established and successful social franchisors working in the private and third sectors to understand and overcome the challenges of growing and replicating a social enterprise.
