The article, which was published on 29 November, said of the seven highlighted organisations: ‘Like all the ideas we’ve highlighted in Fixes, they are proven to work. The adventures started in Lusaka and made their very interesting way along sand and dirt roads. Through villages and farms and towns. They stopped to talk, stopped to listen and stopped to understand what so many visitors to Africa miss: the vitality, the humour and the pretty-well unfailing good nature of the hospitable people in that hard but thrilling landscape. To find out how you can join Riders for Health’s next Experience Africa adventure in 2012, email experienceafrica@riders.org for more information. Or, to find out more about Experience Africa 2011, click here. Riders for Health’s work was recognised this month when it came third in the International Health Promotion Awards, which took place on the 5th-6th December in Rome. ![]() Kat said: ‘We are very proud to take part in this competition. All of the finalists were incredible and I was really pleased that we were specifically recognised by the judges. I think that this really shows what an amazing job all of our teams in Africa are doing and how much it is helping people in rural communities receive the health care they need. I collected this award on behalf of our teams across Africa and in the UK and USA. I would also like to thank all of our supporters. Without them, the impact we are having would not be possible.’ To read more about Riders for Health’s nomination for this award, click here. |
