News on The Edge
Welcome to the Social Edge update!

Emerging social entrepreneurs have such an insane job description that they should carry large business cards with all their actual titles, including Chief Financial, Information and Development Officer, or Director of Marketing, Human Resources and Strategic Planning.

“Social entrepreneurs try to address internal organizational challenges while directing the expanding mission of their social ventures,” writes Curtis Chang, CEO of Consulting Within Reach and this week’s host. Join him in the conversation to revisit how expertise should get deployed to increase effectiveness.

Then get your own expert advice by submitting your questions to Social Edge. Check out the answers to “How important is scaling?” and “When do I need a new website?” as Curtis Chang shares Expert Advice – a newly relaunched feature at Social Edge.

Find out what two Kiva Fellows have learned as they share stories from the field: Joel Carlman with Kisumu Medical & Education Trust in Kenya, and Shereef Zaki with new field partner EDPYME Alternativa in Peru.

Visit Dr. O, who has the inside scoop on a new online grants and donations exchange, “a virtual Wall Street for social ventures.” Join Rod Schwartz in his provocative discussion on money, and Jessica Margolin in her new definition of wealth.

Then check on GSBI-graduate Mathias Craig, as he explains why processes are the glue that keeps an organization from flying apart.

Finally, follow the piece of advice given by Jonathan C. Lewis, the social entrepreneur behind the Opportunity Collaboration conference. He thinks that showering with a friend is a good way to bring social change, especially if you live in the US where each person uses on average 600 liters of water per day –compared with 150 liters in the UK and 20 liters in the developing world.

Who will build a more efficient marketplace?
Help Charles “hipbone” Cameron identify who will be stepping up to make the sector more efficient, rather than just trying to solve part of the problem for a few organizations at a time.

Do we really need more money?
By focusing excessively on the investment side, are we not missing an opportunity to invest more into building great social ventures? Join Rod Schwartz, CEO of ClearlySo, in the conversation.

What is Wealth?
Can you maximize social returns by maximizing financial returns? Can we be financially productive members of society while placing first our responsibilities to our communities? Join Jessica Margolin in the conversation.
