What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

Skoll World Forum: Lessons Learned

News on The Edge
Welcome to the Social Edge update!

The 2010 Skoll World Forum will take place at the University of Oxford April 14-16. With a team of 30 bloggers, Social Edge will be able to report on every session, so don’t forget to log in next week. In the meantime, check our discussions on talent and impact, two of the topics that will be addressed extensively at Oxford.

We asked Yvette Alberdingk Thijm (Witness) and Pari Jhaveri (Third Sector Partners) to help us think about the importance of succession planning. What happens when you realize that it is time for you to move on? Is your organization ready if something unexpected were to happen to you?

Even if you have no plans to leave, leadership development on all levels is critical to developing a sustainable organization. Join our experts in our conversation on talent as they wonder: “Is passion transferable?

Speaking of passion, check in with Dr. O as he writes about two social entrepreneurs who believed strongly that an energy drink and a market-driven restoration business model could save the rain forest.

Catch up with Magogodi Makhene as she interviews the founder of Rwanda's first two-year college for women. Then travel with Leila Janah to Haiti, where Samasource is contributing to the transition from emergency support to longer-term economic development.

Continue on to Tanzania with Alvin Hall as he investigates on the results of a microloan he made through Kiva, and on to California where Untangled writes about another game changer: the iPad!

Stephen Goldsmith concludes his series on civic entrepreneurship while Lakshmi Karan continues her conversation on the collaborative impact of multiple grantees working together around a common goal.

Jonathan Lewis has the final word on how to use what you know to change the world. All it takes is talent to deliver impact.

The Power of Impact & Measurement
What are the challenges in trying to measure systems change? How do you implement programs that measure the power of collective investments? Join the Skoll Foundation's Lakshmi Karan in the conversation.

What's wrong with being poor?
Are the poor actually unhappy? Do we want them to have things they don’t need? What is really wrong with being poor? Join Mumbai-based Lindsay Clinton in this provocative (but constructive) conversation.

Theory of Change: A Collaborative Tool?
Your Theory of Change can simply be an in-house tool, or an in-sector methodology that you can use collaboratively to avoid needless duplication of effort. Join Charles "Hipbone" Cameron as we discuss how to get greater impact at the level of the issue.

The Personal Bottom Line
Where do you fit on a three-axis graph with X=social, Y= financial and Z=personal? SVT Group’s Sara Olsen wonders what your personal bottom line looks like.
