What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

Travel Tips for Social Entrepreneurs

News on The Edge
Welcome to the Social Edge update!

“Some form of risk taking is central to our endeavors, but what’s the difference between creative, and clueless, risk taking for social entrepreneurs?”

How we evaluate risk influences our vision and sometimes even cripples our ability to move forward, so we asked Social Edge friend and frequent contributor Charles (Hipbone) Cameron to help us understand how we should deal with Risk Assessment and Contingency Planning.

His take: “Study the obstacles too early, see the risks too clearly, and you may never allow yourself the glimpse of the impossible possibility.”

Join him in the conversation, then travel to South Africa where Magogodi Makhene reflects on Nelson Mandela’s thought that “education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world.” She also looks into the amazing life of the Black Mozart during the French Revolution.

Speaking of revolution, Jonathan C. Lewis writes why defeating apartheid in South Africa was one thing, but reaching economic justice quite another.

Then off to Togo with Kiva Fellow Leah Gage who reflects on how Kiva makes poverty alleviation so personal: “Lenders are personally touched when they realize their contributions amount to large life changes, and borrowers are personally empowered by the realization that someone is cheering them on.”

Social media experts Beth Kanter and Allison Fine would certainly approve as they write that “organizations need to practice being social and engaging with the outside world.” Meanwhile Lucy Bernholz, Edward Skloot and Barry Varela describe how access to public data will soon influence governmental and philanthropic approaches to producing social good.

Off to Hong Kong, where Yvonne Li looks at the state of social entrepreneurship in the Asia Pacific region, and to Beijing where Curtis Chang thinks about the future prospects of social entrepreneurs in the country that will most shape the 21st century. It is also a good opportunity to discover what GONGOs are!
