RCE Director Returns from Successful Launch of Rwanda BDC Dr. John Mulford returned from Rwanda at the beginning of September with exciting news about the Center's entrepreneurship program in Kigali. Forty students with exceptional potential have begun the training. Our goal: to equip entrepreneurs, through highly practical, action learning and access to expert practitioners, to start businesses that will transform the nation of Rwanda. Rwanda is a fast-paced developing nation that has worked hard to establish an investor-friendly environment. President Kagame’s focus on creating a healthy climate for small to medium-sized enterprises has made the process of starting a business quite streamlined. However, fledgling entrepreneurs need practical training and support in order to be successful--and that is the kind of training we provide. "The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Commerce was so excited by our practical program that he asked me if we could scale it to twelve Centers throughout Rwanda," says Mulford. A tremendous opportunity awaits. RCE is on the ground establishing the first Business Development Center. In partnership with the International Christian Chamber of Commerce, we want to build a network of such centers throughout the developing world. Will you play a role in this transformation? We are in need of businesspeople and entrepreneurs willing to go and share their expertise with students for a week or more. Additional funding is still needed to support the Center until it becomes self-sustaining, and in order to build centers in other cities and countries. (Contact RCE to learn more.) It is more practical than theoretical. It's very good. Even though the travel challenges me due to traffic jam, I am committed to continue until the end of the course and then become a famous entrepreneur. I would like to request the close mentoring to me in that. Germaine My family is composed of my young brother who is 20 years old, my two nephews, and me. Life had offered to me important experiences; at my six years old I started acting as the family chief. This has helped me to be a leader. I am running a small business of selling tortilla chips, which I want to improve and extend. I really am proud of being able to start my small business; when I see it I hear a voice telling me "that is a result from your energy," and for sure this keeps me courageous. The best is forward!!!
