Sarona recently launched Sarona Frontier Markets Fund I LP, one of the first impact investing fund of funds.Read the full interview with Gerhard Pries > MIX to Share Microfinance Data with IRISThe Microfinance Information Exchange (MIX) and the GIIN are working together to develop a structured data feed that will enable the GIIN’s Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS) initiative to access financial and social performance data from more than 1,800 microfinance institutions (MFIs) currently reporting to MIX. MIX is the world’s largest provider of microfinance data. The GIIN will use the data in cross-sector analyses of the impact investing industry. Read bios of the GIIN Board of Directors > Call for Submissions: G-20 SME Finance ChallengeAt this month’s G-20 meeting in Toronto, a competition was launched to find the best models worldwide for public-private partnerships that catalyze finance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The G-20 has secured commitments for the winning idea from development banks and interested bilateral donors, including the IFC and the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank Group, the African Development Bank, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Proposals are welcome from private financial institutions, private investors and companies, socially responsible investors, foundations, and civil society organizations. The challenge was launched by the Group of 20 and Ashoka’s Changemakers, with support from the Rockefeller Foundation. Proposals are due by August 25.
