What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

Business Action on Homelessness- Could You Provide a Placement?

Business Action on Homelessness' 'Ready for Work' programme has been designed to support people who have experienced or been at risk of homelessness gain and sustain employment. This is done through a combination of pre-employment training, a work placement and job coaching.

The programme runs in over 20 cities across the country and lots of  clients are placed on placements with social enterprises. BITC would like to hear from Bradford social enterprises  which would like to be involved and which could offer a 2 week unpaid work placement to clients on the Ready for Work programme, enabling the client to gain new skills, something up to date to add to their CV and a reference to then take away with them in their search for employment.

There is also an opportunity for clients involved in social enterprises who are looking to get back or into to mainstream work to be referred onto the programme.

If you are interested in joining the programme please contact Vicky Ing at Victoria.Ing@bitc.org.uk

Government Review Statutory Right for Time off for Training

The Apprenticeship, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 introduced the new statutory right for employees (who have a minimum of 26 weeks’ service) to apply for time off to undertake study or training and took affect from April 2010, this statutory right applies to Employers with 250 or more employees. It is now currently scheduled that this right will be extended to all other employers with effect from April 2011.

However, the Government is carrying out a review as part of it’s aim of reducing the regulatory burden on business.

The Government has published a consultation asking employees, businesses and other interested parties for their opinions on the right to request time off to train. More details can be found at: www.bis.gov.uk/time-to-train

The consultation period will be shorter than the normal 12 weeks and will close on 15th September. This is to allow all representations to be made prior to the September 17th deadline for submissions to the next meeting of the Reducing Regulation Committee.
