What is Social Entrepreneurship?

Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".
I personally "Believe in Kingdom Transformation" because I know there is only ONE "Life for Significant".

FEATUREs
Beyond the Poverty Line
The way the United States determines who is poor and who is not—a measure based solely on the cost of food—is broken. A new approach is needed, one that measures poverty through multiple factors such as housing, transportation, and regional economic differences.

case study
Do No Evil
Google's philanthropy, dubbed DotOrg, launched in 2004 with bold ambitions and almost $1 billion in seed funding. But the corporate culture built by engineers proved challenging for the development experts brought in to run DotOrg. Six years later, the philanthropy's leadership has been replaced and its ambitions have shrunk.

Nonprofit Management Institute:
Early-bird deadline August 28

October 5-6 Conference Highlight: Leadership Sessions

Each year, the Nonprofit Management Institute program covers the topics that have gotten the most recent attention in the pages of the Stanford Social Innovation Review and within the nonprofit community. With this year's theme of "Leading During Times of Change," the 2010 Institute sessions include two focused on leadership.

Sam Kaner, Executive Director of Community at Work, will conduct the double session "Building Consensus in Multi-Stakeholder Groups." His classic text, Facilitator's Guide to Participatory Decision-Making, is an international bestseller, now in its 18th printing. Kaner's public service clients have included World Bank, United Nations, March of Dimes, Special Olympics, Omidyar Network, Annie E. Casey Foundation and more than 200 other foundations, social enterprises, schools, social service programs, government agencies and university centers including the Stanford Center for Social Innovation.

Carole Robin, a full-time lecturer at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, will lead the session "Influence Without Authority," using conceptual models, tools, and experiential activities. Robin teaches interpersonal dynamics, high-performance leadership and leadership coaching and mentoring. She is the recipient of several teaching awards as well as two Congressional Awards for community service. Robin's experience as a former senior manager and past partner/principal of an international organization consulting firm provides her students with pragmatic, solution-oriented approaches grounded in "having been there."

For detailed descriptions on each session and more information, visit www.ssireview.org/npinstitute. The Nonprofit Management Institute is cosponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. SSIR subscribers and AFP members qualify for discounts.  Register now, the early-bird deadline is August 28th.

The key to an annual report being useful and compelling for a donor is that the report 1) be engaging, 2) tell the story of the organization and 3) explain the organization's results and goals within the context of the organization's story. >>Continue reading this post
