Statement of Faith
You can find other "Market with Meaning" but you definitely want to see "Profit with Purpose".

Raising Capital: Guardian Seminar

In just under two weeks we'll be heading to the Guardian offices for a seminar on raising capital. This aims to answer two of the most pressing concerns of entrepreneurs: where is the money and how can they get it? Chaired by ClearlySo's Rodney Schwartz and including contributions from Michele Giddens of Bridges Ventures, Susan Ralphs of Ethical Property Company and Sue Peters of the Social Investment Business, this will take a look at the issue from all sides.

More information can be found here. Look forward to seeing you there.

ClearlySo Social Business Conference
Conf

Early details of the ClearlySo Social Business Conference are now available online. Now in its sixth year it will, as always, deliver practical and useful advice to social businesses and enterprises.

This year's theme is 'all shapes and sizes' - a celebration of all social businesses large or small. As always you can see a visible demonstration of this in our pitch from the floor sessions and the grand finale in which selected entrepreneurs present their businesses to the entire floor.

Last year was bigger than ever. Let's hope to beat it in 2011. To find out more head to our brand new conference page.

Six of the Best Community Champions
bikeworks
Bikeworks taking people safely out of their cars and onto their bikes

This week, we celebrate those businesses pumping life back into their communities.

  • Bikeworks: Providing cycle training courses, repairs and sales in Tower Hamlets. Also helped ClearlySo's Richard Brownsdon find his wheels
  • Two Fingers to Violence: In its own forthright way this outstanding enterprise works with young people at risk of becoming a victim or, more importantly, an offender of violent crime
  • Adopt a business: An outstanding. company helping executives from blue chip companies to undertake work placements in developing countries. A worthy business and one currently looking for investment.
  • AOKA: Sustainable tourism company helping its clients engage more deeply with the local communities they visit.
  • Coin Street Bankers: A social enterprise which aims to make the South Bank a better place to live, work in and visit.
  • Fletcher in Rye: An enterprise celebrating the life of Jacobean playwright John Fletcher and to preserve Rye's heritage.
