These vehicles are part of North America’s first electric carsharing network known as car2go. Launched in November 2011, car2go now has over 6,000 registered users in San Diego, with more people registering every day. With fuel costs on the rise, car2go is an ideal way to save money and lessen your carbon footprint. Members must first register and after several days will receive a membership card that will activate car2go upon being swiped against the vehicle’s windshield. What sets car2go apart from traditional carsharing programs is that car2go gives users access to the vehicle for as much time as they want, without committing to return the vehicle at a specific time or destination.  

car2go also assumes all responsibility for maintenance, fueling, parking and insurance. One of the added bonuses of using ca2go in San Diego is the ability to park at metered spots without having to put money into the meter. car2go San Diego currently has 300 vehicles in its fleet with more on the way, and each vehicle features FM radio, GPS navigation system, roadside assistance and 24 hour customer support, with more features and upgrades on the way.
