Investor Spotlight: Morgan Stanley

Audrey Choi, Morgan StanleyEach month, an impact investor discusses with the GIIN their motivations, their impact investment strategy, and challenges they face in this growing industry. This month we spoke to Audrey Choi, Managing Director and Head of Global Sustainable Finance at Morgan Stanley. Morgan Stanley is a global financial services firm providing a range of investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services. Its wealth management division, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (MSSB), provides access to a wide range of products and services to individuals, businesses, and institutions, including brokerage and investment advisory services, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement and trust services. In April, Morgan Stanley’s Global Sustainable Finance group, in conjunction with MSSB, launched an Investing with Impact platform that will be accessible to MSSB's 17,000 financial advisors.

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation (EF) is one of the largest independent grant-making institutions in the United Kingdom (U.K.). Founded in 1961, EF works to improve quality of life throughout the U.K. The foundation makes grants to support diverse organizations working in the arts, education and learning, environment, social change, and food. In 2008, EF launched the GBP 21 million Finance Fund to make mission-focused investments that combine a social and financial impact.

SEIU Capital Stewardship Program
SEIU Capital Stewardship Program logoThe SEIU Capital Stewardship Program was created within the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in 2000 as a center of excellence on capital and financial institutions and to facilitate partnership between SEIU and the trustees, administrators, advisors and investment managers of union members’ pension savings. SEIU members participate in 48 public pension funds and 19 private funds with approximately $1.5 trillion in assets, representing over 15% of all U.S. pension assets. Read more >

IDB Group/GIIN Forum on Impact Investing in Latin America and the Caribbean Recap
