It is very exciting this year that an America’s Cup regatta will take place in San Francisco at the same time as SOCAP12. Right off our pier! SOCAP attendees will have front row seating for this momentous occassion. But the addition of this event, and Oracle World which is also in town that week, has left very few reasonably priced hotel rooms in San Francisco. We are also anticipating that taxis and parking will be very difficult.

Because of those exciting complications, we at SOCAP are working extra hard to make great arrangements to make sure your SOCAP experience is enhanced so you can fully enjoy all that San Francisco has to offer at this exciting time!
To help you find a reasonably priced room, we have reached agreements with three lovely properties just 15 minutes away across the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County. We will be running special SOCAP shuttles from these hotels to Fort Mason regularly throughout the conference. The cost of the shuttle will be $100 per person for attendees at these hotels or who live in the Marin County area who would like to use the shuttle for the length of the conference. The room savings for staying in Marin is far more than the cost of the $100 ticket.

The people coming from Marin, riding the shuttle, will have the easiest time of all the attendees! No parking. No bridge tolls. No hassle.

In order for us to be able to pay for the shuttle buses we require the purchase of at least one shuttle ticket per room. If you are interested in reserving one of these rooms or a shuttle pass for the conference, please contact our registrar, Fabienne Blanc (fabienne@socialcapitalmarkets.net) so she can bill you through Paypal for your shuttle ticket and give you the discount code to reserve a room at the hotel of your choice.

NEW BOOK REVIEW:
How Christianity Changed the World

By Alvin Schmidt
Book Review by Jason Benedict
"How Christianity Changed the World is worthy of the commitment it takes to finish.  In this lengthy work, Alvin Schmidt does an excellent and thorough job of showing how Christianity and the teachings of Christ have changed the world for the better.  He traces the impact of Christianity on values that many in the world take for granted.
This impact can be seen in many places, but none more evident than in the value we put on human life. Our modern day value of human life was rooted inteachings of Christ and the actions of early Christians in rescuing newborn babies abandoned on the trash heaps of Rome.  Whether through infanticide, gladiatorial games, glorification of suicide or human sacrifice there was an almost global attitude that human life was cheap before Christianity..."

Help Put an End to Poverty
VOLUNTEER TODAY

With the graduation of the fifth cohort from the Business Development Center in Rwanda, RCE has trained more than 150 entrepreneurs who are now on a journey to transform their nation through their businesses! These entrepreneurs are providing not only for themselves, but also for their families and communities.
The road from graduation to profitability can be hard, but God brings essential people to their journey and provides all their needs. There are two ways that you can be involved:
1. Become a Volunteer Consultant. You can combine your business experience with your mission heart to participate in a unique and valuable program! Volunteer Consultants use their business experience to remotely mentor and coach entrepreneurs in the developing world using email, Skype, or telephones. Despite the many cultural differences, business is business! Use what you know about business to help break the cycle of poverty. Sign up today!
2. Join the Prayer and Encouragement Team. Prayer is a truly powerful thing. Many of our entrepreneurs desire a friend who will pray and encourage them. God has used the prayer team to intervene when an entrepreneur was about to give up. Join many others who understand the power of prayer in this rewarding opportunity by being an encourager to a specific entrepreneur. Once you sign up, you will receive a free monthly prayer guide. All you have to do is pray for the entrepreneur by name for one month and watch the mighty difference it makes in their lives! Sign up today!

Welcome Two New RCE Employees!

Welcome two new graduate assistants to the RCE team!
LaTasha Anderson is studying for her Master's in Community Counseling at Regent University's School of Psychology. She also owns her own business repairing computers. The common thread - LaTasha is passionate about helping people. LaTasha shared that she wanted to work for RCE because she "wanted to be a part of the mission of 'transforming people and nations through business.' I desire to mesh entrepreneurship, missions, and counseling by serving populations who are under-represented in these areas. My hope is to see people living at their fullest potential." LaTasha will be leading RCE's brand new Prayer and Encouragement Team. Contact LaTasha at lataand@regent.edu.
Welcome LaTasha!
Daniel Diaz is studying for his Master's in Government at Regent University. He has been actively involved in politics for many years, most notably as the executive director of Young Americans for Freedom. He hopes to some day run for elected office, but before that would like to start his own business. Daniel will be growing RCE's Volunteer Consultant program and helping to run events. Contact Daniel at danidia@regent.edu. Welcome Daniel!
Hanisha Besant, RCE's former graduate assistant, has graduated with her MBA and has accepted a full time position with the Professional and Continuing Education department at Regent University. The RCE team wishes her God's many blessings in this new adventure!
RCE covets prayers for the following areas:
Volunteer Consultants: This program is growing, but there is so much more potential. Pray that God would bring the right mentors and coaches to walk alongside our entrepreneurs.
Prayer Partners: Even prayer partners need prayer! Pray that they would be encouraged and filled with the presence of God. Pray also for the program, that it would grow exponentially with powerful prayer warriors!
Funding: RCE has many new and growing opportunities, many of which require additional financing. God has always been our provider in the past and we are trusting that He will provide the resources required to walk in the path He has put before us. Pray that God would bring generous people alongside RCE to share in its vision and harvest.
Regent University has been developing relationships with several African nations over the last decade, but in the past two years, some of the most impressive strides have been made in the genocide-torn nation of Rwanda. This May, a cohort of 14 Regent students converged on Kigali, Rwanda, to complete their major projects for the Holistic International Development course.
Each student participated in at least one project—many participated in more—related to fields including business, research, community development, ministry, leadership and communications. Through the connections established by Regent’s Business Development Center (BDC) in Rwanda, students were able to work with some of the most prestigious government and private organizations in the nation.
“The Holistic International Development course was the most valuable educational experience for me since I have been an MBA student,” said GLE student Karen Pruitt. “I felt more fulfilled in serving in this capacity than in my 10 years of working in IT consulting.” Pruitt conducted a two-day IT project management seminar for 25 IT entrepreneurs under the sponsorship of the Rwanda Development Board.

Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the
pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing of your mind
. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.
